Customers Say

"I told my wife that this was the best real estate advertising that I have spent my money on so far in my real estate career."
- Allen B., Realtor

"Since homes within walking distance to shul tend to sell higher than average prices, it just made sense to list my house on Walk2Shul. In only a few weeks, my listing has been viewed dozens of times...and it's only winter right now!"
- D.G., Homeowner

How To Prepare Photos For Your Listings

Photos sell! And, if you're listing a property for sale or for rent, you certainly want to upload as many photos as your listing plan will allow. Please be aware, however, that the photos your digital camera takes will probably be too large to upload as is. You will most likely have to prepare and resize your photos before uploading to our system. Before we get into the steps of resizing photos, let's review our requirements.

Photo Requirements:
- The size of the photo (ie. file) cannot exceed 150K
- The dimensions of the photo cannot exceed 640 x 480 pixels
- The type of file should be JPG

Steps to Prepare and Resize Your Photos
Most digital cameras already save images in the JPG format, so all you need to be concerned about is resizing the photo and reducing its size. Use a photo editing program, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, Fireworks, or Corel PhotoPaint. Adobe Photoshop Elements is an affordable solution. The following steps are for Adobe Photoshop and can be used as a guideline for other programs:

  1. Open the photo in Adobe Photoshop.
  2. Under the "Image" menu, choose the "Image Size..." option.
  3. Make sure the "Resolution" is 72 dpi.
    • The default resolution of most digital cameras is 72 dpi. The other possibility is 300 dpi, which is too large.
    • If your photo is 300 dpi, you will need to uncheck "Resample Image", change the resolution to 72, and click OK. After you click OK, open the "Image Size" window again and re-check the "Resample" option. You'll need it re-checked to resize the image.
  4. Make sure that "Constrain Proportions" is checked, as well as "Resample Image". In the section titled "Pixel Dimensions", enter the number "640" in the "Width" field. The height will automatically adjust to maintain proportions. Click "OK" and the image will be resized.
  5. Go to the "View" menu and choose "Actual Pixels". This will zoom your image to its 100% size.
  6. You may want to sharpen the picture a bit. You can do this by going to the "Filter" menu at the top and choose "Sharpen".
  7. Now, save the image for the Internet. Choose File>Save for Web... Make sure the image is in the JPEG (.jpg) format and choose a "quality" setting of around 70. It will show you the size of the file, such as 89k. You want to keep the size of the file under 150k.

Important! - Make sure you save the image under a different name, so you don't overwrite your original photo.

That's it! Prepare all your photos at the same time, so you can then upload them all to your property's listing on Walk2Shul.com
