South Hampstead is a vibrant, growing Jewish orthodox community. It is a member of the United Synagogue, the largest synagogal organisation in the United Kingdom. The community currently has a membership of approximately 850 families. Its membership is diverse both in terms of age and background. Groups are comprised of youth, young professionals, young marrieds, families, the mature years, singles and single agains. There are a large number of births within the community each year.

South Hampstead has a reputation for warmth, humour, informality and a non-judgemental approach. The least and most committed sit comfortably side by side and the community enjoys an atmosphere of unusual harmony.
