Sunnyside, New York (United States)
Sunnyside is a small but growing Orthodox Jewish community. The community has a rich history as a vibrant center of orthodox life about 50 years ago. We have recently hired a young, dynamic Rabbi Nesanal Lerman to lead our community.
Sunnyside is located only 15 minutes by train from midtown Manhattan, 15 minutes by car to Williamsburg Brooklyn, 25 minutes by car from Kew Garden Hills. New York Magazine recently rated Sunnyside as the 3rd best neighborhood to live in the 5 boroughs based on affordability, community, schooling, transportation and other criteria. There is so much potential here.
Sunnyside is ideal for people that are searching for a tightly knit Jewish community. It is attractive for newly married couples that want to live in a Jewish community but want leave behind social pressures that go along with living in a large Jewish community. It is attractive for people that are looking for an easy commute to Manhattan, but still want the feeling of living out of town.
The community is like a family, everyone knows each other and everyone plays an integral role. We have communal events like wine tasting, barbecues, Shabbat meals, as well as daily learning and classes given on Shabbat.
