Description
The Union Square Sephardic Synagogue was established in February 2001, focused on preserving and fostering the traditions, heritage, and values of Sephardic Jewry. It is the first and only Synagogue of its kind in downtown Manhattan.Services are conducted with strict adherence to the traditions of the holy community of Aram Soba (Aleppo, Syria). The current synagogue comprises a diverse group of men and women of all ages representing five continents, many of who speak a variety of languages. Jewish families and individuals from all Sephardic backgrounds and walks of life are encouraged to join the congregation in prayer.Following services, a typical Sephardic Kiddush is served. All are encouraged to partake in this warm social – and culinary – experience.
